Host your own BonFire Night

Remember, remember!
The fifth of November,
The Gunpowder treason and plot;
I know of no reason
Why the Gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot!…

Check out our simple tips for a successful Bonfire Night this Saturday 5th November:

PLAN AHEAD

  • How many people will you be inviting?
  • Are kids included?
  • For how long will the fireworks display will go on for? Work out the budget for your display and plan around that. You may be tempted to make it as long as possible, but less is definitely more.
  • How about warning (or inviting) the neighbours?
  • What’s y backup plan if the weather changes?

SIMPLE BUT HEARTY FOOD

With the weather getting colder, warming food is the best bet for a successful bonfire night… your guests will thank you for that! That doesn’t mean you need to slave in front of the stove for hours, though.

This doesn’t mean you need to slave in front of the stove for hours, though.  Hot chocolate with marshmallows, burgers, hotdogs, chunky vegetable soups are easy and hearty staples for such night. Or if you dare, a few spiced cocktails will nicely complement the night.

BUYING FIREWORKS GUIDE

  • Buy fireworks (including sparklers) only from registered sellers for private use between 15 October and 10 November. At any other times of the year, you can only buy fireworks from licensed shops.
  • Fireworks should comply with British Standard 7114 and this should be shown on the fireworks box and the fireworks themselves.
  • The instructions should be in English.
  • Members of the public can buy most of the fireworks under categories 1 to 3. Category 4 fireworks are for professional displays only.

Yes, as you guessed it, at The Farm Shop, you will find most of what you need for a successful Bonfire Night, including fireworks. Please remember to pick up a ‘Firework Code‘ leaflet for a safe and happy event.
